I retired from teaching in Jenison in June,2015. I was diagnosed with Endometrial cancer in July, 2015. It goes without saying that is not what I expected when beginning my retirement! But as we teachers always say, “Ya get whatcha get and ya don’t throw a fit!”
So my own personal Cancer journey began! I had a full Hysterectomy followed by internal and external radiation. I will say my Cancer journey ended with my last internal radiation treatment the day before Thanksgiving, 2015! But as we Cancer Survivors know all too well, Cancer is the gift that keeps on giving! My Cancer is gone! My radiation treatments for that bout are over, but the physical and emotional damage is done and we live a new life post Cancer!
do not misunderstand me here, my life is very full of blessings! I am blessed with a wonderful husband, two great daughters who are amazing mothers and wives! I am the Mimi of 5 beautiful, fun loving and entertaining grandchildren who keep me hoppin’! And I also run a business that brings me constant joy, called Dog Grandma!
I am reaching out today to ask for your help! Would you please make a small donation to Gilda’s Club by sponsoring me in their Fall Fundraising event call The West Side Walk.
unfortunately I am not the only person who has been touched by some kind of Cancer. Many of my friends have also been handed a similar diagnosis, or have a friend or loved one who has.
Gilda’s Club is a wonderful facility located on Bridge Street N.W.that provides free emotional healthcare for the members of our community. Anyone who is on a Cancer journey can utilize their services, resources and facility.
Please help me to help them so that they can continue to help others in our community!
i am not asking for a BIG donation simply donate what you can afford and Thank you!
